XP is apparently granted proportional to money spent. So, if planes are your only defense, investing $20k or $2k into planes grant you the same XP. But if you have a plane and a village, then the amount spent into each determines what XP it gets. (Apparently). The XP gained by towers happened at the end of every round and is distributed based off of how much money was spent on each tower, so the more money spent on super monkeys the better. Finally, DO NOT play free play mode. Free play cuts the XP gained by like, 90% or something so you gain nothing by continuing to play after you get the medal.You can hit Level 20 in about 40 minutes give or take, maybe even quicker than that - so I wouldn't say that you need to do anything, sit down and play!
